Tate partied on!!

Tate had a wonderful birthday!! He was lucky to have had two parties. Last Saturday my family was in town, so I planned a big Dr. Seuss party. This turned out very good, I think that he really enjoyed it. My family was all encouraged to dress up in there best Dr. Seuss outfits that they could find. I was very impressed by the creativity. Aaron and I were "Thing 1" and "Thing 2"..Tate was "Birthday thing". We ate a yummy dinner together before we ate cake and ice cream. Tate had his very own cake to destroy and he did so. Afterwords Tate opened his gifts and boy did he get spoiled. He got lots of great toys and books. We had a blast being with family and seeing our little Tater-Tot enjoy his 1st birthday!

This last Saturday was his real birthday. I couldn't let his real Birthday go and not do anything. So a few of his little buddies came over for some cake and ice cream to celebrate with him. He had a swimming pool cake this time, cause he loves water. We sang to Tate and he opened his gifts....again....spoiled little boy. He really enjoyed playing with a few of his little friends.

I think his 1st Birthday was a success! Birthdays aren't what they use to be for adults. So now we make up for it with our kids. Right?? It was great to sing to him "Happy Birthday" first thing in the morning and wish him Birthday wishes through out the day (even though he had no clue what was going on) but it was fun for us!!

On this very day....one year ago!

Dear Tate,

One year ago on this very day at 11:47pm on Sept 13, 2007, a very special boy entered the world. We named him Tate Matthew McClellan. It was you!! This was one of the very best days of Mommy and Daddy's lives. We had waited for a very long time for you, and finally you were here. The first time we saw you, we loved you with all of our hearts. You had the cutest little dimples on your very fat cheeks. You were a very big boy weighing 8# 11oz and 21" long. We couldn't believe it...you were lots bigger than the doctor thought you would be. You were healthy in every way with a perfect little chubby body. Mommy and Daddy loved looking at you and couldn't believe what a perfect little miracle you were.

Tate we wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY, and want you to know that we LOVE you so very much. You have made our lives complete. Thank you for the love and joy you bring into our lives and so many others. Happy 1st Birthday!

Love, Mommy and Daddy

This was when mommy had just found out she was going to have a little boy!

What a sweet and perfect little boy!

Tate had cute...big feet!

Lots of loved ones (family and friends) came to see you at the hospital.

YAY...going home to my new house, to start our little family!

You looked just like daddy when you were born.

Like father like son!!

Love the Mohawk look!

Aaron hates having long hair...and long hair to him is one inch long. The other day he thought it would be funny to copy Tate's hair-doo. I came around the corner and saw this. I laughed very hard, but the sad thing was we were going to a party at the neighbors and he kept it just how it was. They thought it was pretty funny, but said it wasn't all that bad. I think he is cute anyway that he has it, but not sure if people would take him seriously.

Aaron and Tate "Love the Mohawk look"

This was when Tate was fevering, that is why no shirt was on (we do dress our kid)

Our next door neighbors got this awesome "teeny tiny scooter". The other night we had a blast, zooming around the streets on it. We feel like Dumb and Dumber....you know that show.....right? Too bad this wasn't around when Aaron couldn't walk, he could have gone around on this.

The neighbors....Landon and Janell

What Tate does in his free time!

Tate is a "happy go lucky" good little boy...but every once in awhile he can get into some trouble!! Aaron is a plant lover and we have many plants in our home. When we were baby proofing the house, I told Aaron "What are we going to do about the low plants?" He said "That is what rules are for".... "We will teach him to stay out of the plants". Well for the most part he has been pretty good. He wont touch most of them....BUT the one that I hate and just want to get rid of. He wont keep his hands (and mouth) out of it. It is pretty funny, but it is a daily vacuum session.

Tate also loves to empty out all of my kitchen drawers. His favorite thing lately is to empty the dish towels and then get in! We bought some child locks for the cupboards, but I guess this drawer is ok for him to explore, just not get hurt.

He does play with his toys from time to time also. These are just a few of his favorites.

This sqishy one really freaks him out...but he is getting use to it, and will actually touch it now.

Tate loves his LARGE batman ball!

Who needs a bike? Tate's little bum fits perfect in his little dump truck!

Mr. Potato head is about the same size as Tate! They are great buds!

My poor little Tater!

My poor little Tater has yet been hit again with illness. Yesterday he woke bright and early. When we went into his room, he was burning up (103.5). All day on Saturday we were piggy backing Tylenol and Motrin, but still couldn't get the fever lower than 101. Tate loves his baths, he had three to try and cool him down.

We had planned a big day of yard work, not all to many days left to get it done before the weather turns. My mom came and held him for a couple hours or so, while we weeded, cleaned out trenches and tried to finish the sprinkler system. I hated to do this when I knew how crappy he felt. Thanks MOM!!

Today, around noon we both decided it was time to get him looked at. We went into the insta-care and of course the wait was a couple hours. Tate was beside himself so we drove to another insta-care, and on the way there......I saw the throat. BRIGHT red and white spots all over, there was tons!!! No wonder he wasn't eating. I just kept blaming this all on his ears, cuz that was the problem last week....it's so hard to know.

Anyways, the strep culture will be done it a couple days and who knows what the verdict will be. I think this is just some crazy viral thing...just to add on the list of adventures he has had in his short little life. We love him so much and it is so hard to see him go through these dumb and silly illness.

A miserable, great time!!

Our ward campout was this last weekend and we had a miserable-great time. We had great plans of camping a lot this summer but with Aaron breaking his foot, it made it pretty hard...so we never made it. The ward camp out came along and we thought that it would be fun to go!! When the week approached Tate got a bad ear infection and was up all night, all week. We still thought that we could try it and it would be alright. We went up with our fun friends the Holtens and we set up our tents in a spot far off from the other ward members...cuz we new that Tate would be crying a little. (Sorry Holten's) We set up around a fire ring, so we could have a fire later in the evening. Aaron and Chris made the best tasting dutch oven potatos and bbq beef, that I have ever tasted in all of my days. Angie made a mean peach cobbler and I sat back and watched!!! SWEET!! We ate and then went over by where the rest of the ward was visiting and eating smores. We enjoyed the company of all of the great people in our ward. Sometimes it is fun to get out of the church atmosphere and just be smelly and dirty. We of course were one of the last to leave that fire ring, but Tate was sleeping so soundly in Aaron's arms. It was around midnight and we headed to our camp spot, and Aaron and Chris wanted to make there own fire. I hit the sack, while they sat around the fire and chatted. An hour or so after, Aaron and Tate came into the tent and all Heck broke loose. We should have known that Tate wouldn't want to cuddle in the bed with us, he has never done that before. He is a great crib sleeper. Aaron and I were up till 2:30am tring to settle down our not so happy, ear infec. son!! I was at the point of packing up and heading out....but I was afraid that I would get lost going home. (I did hear others did leave in the middle of the night...I wasn't the only one thinking this) Finally we did get Tate settled in the middle of the bed and then Aaron and I tried to slowing get on the air mattress on each side.....tring not to touch him in any way. He did sleep for a couple hours and then the whole thing started over again. I just couldn't wait till morning to come. Finally it did and Tate was just the happiest little boy in the morning....mommy and daddy totally exhaused!!! The ward made a great tasting breakfast in the morning. Everyone in the camp just packed up and left and we stayed and visited with the Holtens, played horse shoes. We were the last to leave the camp ground. This was a beautiful oasis, with grass, tree's and pretty much everything you could ask for. Next year they are going to have it in the same spot. We are looking forward to a better nights sleep. So to sum this all up, we had a GREAT time visiting with friends, we ate yummy yummy food, but we slept crapy!!!! Ohhh well we made up for it when we got home by having a three hour nap!!!
