Cinco De Mayo!!!!

Cinco De Mayo = 5th of May just for some of you that may not know. For the last 8 years my husband and I (and a brother and sister in law) have had a tradition of TRYING to put on a Cinco De Mayo party. 2 of the 8 years it has worked...as for the rest....no bueno!! All I can say, and have figured..LOGAN STINKS TO TRY AND HAVE A SPRING PARTY! This year not only did it rain....but it was FREEZING!! The weather said that we are having February weather, and I believe them. Anyone and everyone was invited to the event...they just have to bring their favorite Mexican side dish to share. (In years past, we have had soooo much food...that we could eat for a month!) Too bad most years get rained out, and we end up having a little one indoors at someones home. This year I had told people that if it rains...it is canceled! I hoped and prayed that it would turn out...and the day before the weather man gave us some hope....but BLAH BLAH BLAH...he was WRONG!! You don't scents any frustration right?? Well, I was. Just imagine how it should have been....lots of great friends sitting all around the yard...on warm green grass. Eating lots of yummy Mexican food, listening to fun Mexican tunes, dancing around to the "Mexican Hat dance" and the conga line..and so forth. Sipping on specialty drinks...and just plain enjoying a warm/nice evening for the HECK of it....BUT, NOPE..that was not the story at all! All day it was FREEZING...and we were just trying to figure what we should do. We had told people to not come if it was raining....but didn't think that the weather could be in the sub degree digits..haa haa! The wind was blowing hard, and that made it just that much worse. As the day ticked away, I got TONS of texts, and calls letting me know that they wouldn't be coming (go figure, I wouldn't either!) Then just ten minutes before it started, it started pouring rain. Thankfully we hadn't set up all of our decor and lights and the works. We thought we have this food, and such....why not try and do a little one in the GETTO/nasty garage. What do you know, that is what we did. We texted a few neighbors around us, and said that if they still wanted, we would be doing a tiny one.

Don't get me wrong, it was fun...just not at all what it was suppose to be like. Ohh well....what can you do!(buy a huge house and host it indoors??? haa haa)

Sorry to all that made food, and had to eat it in the privacy of your own homes...and thanks to the few of you that had to squish in our small garage, with No sitting arrangements. We made it work, but it was tight!

I was totally psyched for this party too. I was so bummed when it was rainy and cold. I told ben we could of have it at our house. I know we're kind of selfish, such a big house for just me an him but i'm totally up for hosting any kind of party. Maybe we'll have to plan a cookout sometime.

Sorry about the crummy weather. At least you had my dip to get you through those hard times :-) Here's an idea: why don't you do the party next year on the weekend AFTER the official Cinco de Mayo date? You are obviously cursed when you have the party on the 5th, and then Russ and I could actually come!!!!!
