Our sweet lil Davin sure has had some tough issues in his short little life. This last month has not been any exception. It all started a few weeks ago when he had a bad ear infection. He was put on antibiotics at that time. A week of so later he started with extreme abdominal pains, diarrhea, which then added fever and he was super pale with sunken dark eyes. This continued about 9 days...and we just couldn't figure out what to do for him. He was down right miserable and so were we. Sleepless nights were wearing on us all, and the doctors weren't sure what to do with him as well. Finally we brought him in one last time and they sent us to the Emergency room for blood work and an ultrasound. They sent us back to the doctor afterwords. The doctor got the US back and said that his appendix had probably burst and his blood work was through the roof. He was needing surgery ASAP! We asked if we could run home to get things in order and grab some extra clothes, they said NO, it was too risky to wait. Surgery was needed now! Since he is so small for his age, they decided to send us to primaries. We thought that was a great idea since they deal with a lot more kids his age. We took off to PMC. Mom was a mess! No mother wants their baby cut into. :( When we got there they decided to do more tests and re~test the ultrasound. THANK GOODNESS!! They are much more trained and skilled and knew a lot more what to look for. It was NOT appendix whatsoever! UGH and SIGH! They were really concerned about how he looked, felt and the extreme dehydration from so many days on end of diarrhea. He was in bad shape. They drew more blood and tested his poop and figured out that he had C-diff! (The antibiotics from the ear infection a couple weeks ago killed all the bad AND good bacteria in his tummy!) They admitted him to get the pain, dehydration and blood levels under raps. We thought it would take a little while, but it turned into days and nights. Davin wanted daddy with him there. I went home and cared for the other two since I know the school schedules/routine in general better. It killed me to not be with Davin too though. So hard when you want to be in two places at once. Aaron took lots of pictures and sent them to me. It helped. When they finally thought it would be ok to let him go home, they were concern that he kept fluids still going since he wouldn't have an IV anymore. He was sent home with a lot of pain meds, flagyl, and probiotics to build up his body again. He had a couple episodes where he got super pale again and looked like death. Scared us, but he was ok. What huge ordeal I tell ya. Not fun, but so glad that his is ok now and his happy old self. Sure love that little boy and will do anything for him.
Checked into Primary Childrens Hospital.
Feeling so miserable. This pain had gone on for too long!
A few days into it. Pain meds going strong = smiles! :)
The brothers were so happy to see each other again. Tate was not himself and was really missing his brother. This visit was the best thing for them both.
Momma sure loves her little Davin! He didn't even look like himself.
Primary childrens hospital is so awesome! They gave prizes, played games and spoiled him like crazy. Pretty much made him feel like a million bucks during his stay. Tate was a bit jealous. We kept telling him, it's not all that great with pokes and up all night with doctor and nurse checks. ;)
Tate and me made WELCOME home signs for Davin! We just couldn't wait for him to come home!!! He was feeling pretty good (still need some pain meds for awhile) but soooo much better!!! YAY!
The bishopric, family and lots of great neighbors were so kind to text, call, and bring by treats! It was very nice of them all to care and give so much concern! Hope this doesn't happen again though. :)
