CINCO DE MAYO 2011!!!
Cinco de Mayo**** came around super fast this year. (If you have been a reader in years past, you probably remember that RAIN is not my friend on this particular day.)
As you all know RAIN has been in the forecast MOST all of the days this spring also. So it was not looking up. I REALLY didn't want to do it in the garage again! ;) Many people had visited with us about doing another CINCO party this year. Out of frustration of past years, I was NOT going to do one! (OR EVEN THINK about it!)
But obviously I did, and Aaron really wanted to pursue it. SOOO, the moral of the story is: I told him...I would not do ANY planning of ANY sort until the day before...(if not the day of) just so we could see how the weather would be.
I also said that I would DELEGATE most all items so I wasn't stuck with the bill AGAIN....just to have a dumb rained out party!! (HA HA, you can sense my frustrations of the past...right?!?)
(Yes, I am setting up this story nicely..huh?!)
I held to that plan...and of course the weather was acting LOVELY as ever. (That is not even sarcastic.) It really was Lovely. So, we PLANNED IT!!! Yes, we did!
The day of: All day was PERFECT! Not a single cloud in the sky. Da Da Da... UNTIL one HOUR before the party... LUCKY ME.
The wind started to blow....
HARD.
The sky started to darken.....
BAD.
The weather was getting cooler...
and I was starting to get SUPER ticked.....;)
We still set up anyways. Hung red, green and white lights. Also Balloons, crape paper...sombreros and chili peppers. My next door neighbor even came over and made a banner for it also.
People started to come....
AND....
LOW AND BEHOLD......
The weather held out ALL EVENING!!! It's a miracle!!!! The wind stopped. And it really couldn't have been better weather in general at all. YAY!! It wasn't too hot or cool. It really was fantastic!!! We counted over 70+ people attended. It has been big in the past..but with the crappy weather, we just were not sure how it would turn out.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to come, as long as they bring their most favorite MEXI dish to share. We had TONS of food, and a great selection of different kinds. YUM! (Thanks to all that did come and brought the tasty and oh so good food. Mmmm)
The evening went on as such:
We ate, drank specialty drinks, mingled with friends, danced to fun Mexican up beat music (thank you Landon for the great mix), and then did the famous pinata! The millions of kids LOVED all the loot.
The drink dudes!!
Janell and Charee sipping on great drinks!
Prepping the LOADS of food!
Eating away!
Looking on at all of the peeps.
Fun friends!
Looking HOT in that sombrero Lando!
Time for some MEXICAN HAT DANCE!
Dance time!!!
Here we go!
A little Macaraina!
Pinata time!!
Excited kids!
It finally broke! Candy everywhere!!!
As people parted the weather started to cool down, and it has continued to be cool pretty much since. (COME ON SUMMER!!!) WOW, what a miracle! Maybe in another 6-7 years we can have another one! :)
