A miserable, great time!!

Our ward campout was this last weekend and we had a miserable-great time. We had great plans of camping a lot this summer but with Aaron breaking his foot, it made it pretty hard...so we never made it. The ward camp out came along and we thought that it would be fun to go!! When the week approached Tate got a bad ear infection and was up all night, all week. We still thought that we could try it and it would be alright. We went up with our fun friends the Holtens and we set up our tents in a spot far off from the other ward members...cuz we new that Tate would be crying a little. (Sorry Holten's) We set up around a fire ring, so we could have a fire later in the evening. Aaron and Chris made the best tasting dutch oven potatos and bbq beef, that I have ever tasted in all of my days. Angie made a mean peach cobbler and I sat back and watched!!! SWEET!! We ate and then went over by where the rest of the ward was visiting and eating smores. We enjoyed the company of all of the great people in our ward. Sometimes it is fun to get out of the church atmosphere and just be smelly and dirty. We of course were one of the last to leave that fire ring, but Tate was sleeping so soundly in Aaron's arms. It was around midnight and we headed to our camp spot, and Aaron and Chris wanted to make there own fire. I hit the sack, while they sat around the fire and chatted. An hour or so after, Aaron and Tate came into the tent and all Heck broke loose. We should have known that Tate wouldn't want to cuddle in the bed with us, he has never done that before. He is a great crib sleeper. Aaron and I were up till 2:30am tring to settle down our not so happy, ear infec. son!! I was at the point of packing up and heading out....but I was afraid that I would get lost going home. (I did hear others did leave in the middle of the night...I wasn't the only one thinking this) Finally we did get Tate settled in the middle of the bed and then Aaron and I tried to slowing get on the air mattress on each side.....tring not to touch him in any way. He did sleep for a couple hours and then the whole thing started over again. I just couldn't wait till morning to come. Finally it did and Tate was just the happiest little boy in the morning....mommy and daddy totally exhaused!!! The ward made a great tasting breakfast in the morning. Everyone in the camp just packed up and left and we stayed and visited with the Holtens, played horse shoes. We were the last to leave the camp ground. This was a beautiful oasis, with grass, tree's and pretty much everything you could ask for. Next year they are going to have it in the same spot. We are looking forward to a better nights sleep. So to sum this all up, we had a GREAT time visiting with friends, we ate yummy yummy food, but we slept crapy!!!! Ohhh well we made up for it when we got home by having a three hour nap!!!

I love the fun story. Sounds like most of our ward campouts. I elected to miss ours this year (Ava was only 7 days old). But Tyler and the kids went and had a wonderful time!
Your little guy sure is cute!

Oh, he looks so cute snoozing in his daddy's arms!!

Ellie was the same way. She would sleep so well in her crib, but I couldn't get her to fall asleep anywhere else!!

I love dutch oven cooking, but not camping...you guys are troopers!!

Hey will oyu let me know if you are still having problems getting into my blog? Something is weird with the friends and family names along the right side. Some are black and some are tan... don't understand why. :)

Sounds like a lot of fun! It is simply too hot to camp here in the summer...I miss coolness in the evenings. Sorry about your little man, though. Crying children do put a damper on things!
